Why a Venom Costs What It Costs
Venom is often described as expensive. Spec for spec, it is usually the opposite — and the reasons are structural, not marketing. Here is how our pricing actually works.
We only build high-end machines
There is no entry-level or mid-range Venom, so our starting price is not a “cheapest model” — it is the minimum specification we are willing to put our name on. That makes Venom look expensive next to brands whose ranges start at $899. Configure any of those brands to match a BlackBook spec for spec, and the picture reverses.
Being small lets us buy better parts
The best components — the top panel grades, the fastest memory, workstation-grade SSDs — come off production lines in limited numbers. That is how manufacturing yield works: only a fraction of any run comes out at the top grade. A maker shipping millions of laptops cannot build them all from that fraction; there are simply not enough top-grade parts, so they design around mid-grade components instead. At our scale, every machine we build can be built from the top bin. Our size is not a limitation — it is the reason for the quality.
We have no disappointed customers to pay for
Entry-level computers disappoint by design — they can never do everything their buyer imagined, and that disappointment is expensive: it becomes support calls, returns and service infrastructure, a cost that has to be funded somewhere in the price of every machine a maker sells. Venom has no entry-level category to fund. Our machines do what their owners expected, and it shows: in our five-year owner survey, 88% of BlackBook owners never needed to contact support at all.
One store, no middlemen
Venom sells direct through one global store — shopvenom.com — with one worldwide price and free DHL Express delivery. There is no retail chain adding margin between the factory and you.
No sales, ever — on purpose
Discounting is what overproduction looks like from the outside: early buyers overpay, late buyers get old stock, and neither gets a fair deal. We manufacture for our customer base, price correctly from day one, and never discount. The price you pay on launch day is the price everyone pays.
And the price is only half the value
A BlackBook is engineered to be owned for a long time: socketed memory, dual M.2 storage slots and serviceable batteries mean it can grow instead of being replaced. Every machine carries a 3-year pickup-and-return warranty, and working BlackBooks up to seven years old can re-enter service through the Venom Value Cycle. In our five-year owner survey, 98.1% of owners were still using their BlackBook five years after purchase.
The result
At matched specifications, a BlackBook is typically priced below the equivalent machine from any premium manufacturer — while being built to outlast it.
