Trade In Program

Venom Global Trade in Program.

Join the Venom Value Cycle, purchase a new equivalent BlackBook from shopvenom.com then turn your old up to 7 year old BlackBook into someone else’s BlackBook and get paid for it. It’s worth it.

Our current customers are our future suppliers.

1) Order any BlackBook from Shopvenom.com – You do not need to check with us first.

2) After receiving your new BlackBook you have 30 days to send in your old working BlackBook by mail or courier. This gives you 30 days to transfer all of your files and data across to your new BlackBook.

3) Once we receive your old BlackBook back from you. We will pay you in cash after 14 days directly into your bank account. (Typically the account you used to pay us)

4) Your old BlackBook must  turn on and boot into windows. We will then format and delete all data again ensuring all of your data will be unrecoverable. Your old BlackBook with a bit of love and attention will then find a new home and continue its life serving someone else, avoiding landfill and being downcycled.  After 7 years, your BlackBook is still worthy of not becoming a toothbrush.

1.12 Do I need to have it valued or appraised?

No, you do not need to check with us or have it valued or ask how much its worth. If it turns on and boots into windows and you have the power adaptor with it, its worth as listed above.

1.2 What happens to your old BlackBook?

We at Venom make things to last, when your BlackBook was made, it was made to continue to perform, well beyond its expected optimum life. Everything is important and as part of our intelligent performance creed, your BlackBook was made to be a worthy notebook computer. The Venom value Cycle means we planned very early on for our BlackBooks to be upcycled and not just recycled and turned back into waste material or land fill at the end of its life, this planning takes place well before any metal is cast or screws are machined. Your old BlackBook was engineered to be better from the beginning, so when we receive it back from you we will have its data wiped and on sold to someone who will continue to use it perhaps in a less demanding environment. This means it will avoid landfill and being recycled down into a simpler material. Not only does this save a lot of energy and material, but what could be greener than not having to throw it away to begin with? How about not having to recycle? Turns out something that lasts a long time has the smallest carbon footprint of all.

1.3 Who pays for this?

Typically a carbon credit scheme means the buyer is paying extra at the beginning of the products lifecycle to pay for the disposal of the product or equivalent replacement when the time comes. This may in a way sort out the monetary aspect, it does not negate the fact that somewhere else on earth energy is being used to down cycle a high energy material into a low energy material. Turning high grade silicon into paving isn’t exactly smart. There is a better way. The Venom value cycle means that neither the buyer, the old owner, the new owner nor the planet is paying. Its a win-win situation all around. Nobody is paying for this, simply put our current customers are our future suppliers.

1.3.1 Why Trade in?

The planet wins big time and so do you, for a product to continue to be used rather than having it torn down and rebuilt again, true sustainability becomes that little bit closer. Getting paid to do it also, rather than paying to have it recycled or thrown out also makes sense. Saving energy and materials while avoiding waste and getting paid rather than paying to get rid of, is the optimum way forward for a greener world that is both economically and ecologically sustainable. True sustainability needs long continuous product lifecycles that are economically feasible and not dependent on shorter lifecycles fuelled by more purchases and paid for with credits and additional costs. The Colosseum in Rome for example is nearly 2000 years old and made form cement and mortar, is that better than rebuilding a building every 20, 50 or 200 years? Could the glass milk bottles reused in the past still be a better method than making milk cartons that are recyclable today? What about a re-purposed or restored classic car that lasts 50 years as opposed to a car being replaced every 7-10 years? Says a lot about how we could be using materials better. No two computers are equal and some laptops are just better than others. We think BlackBooks should last a long time and while technology gets better with time, we are already so far ahead with our designs and performance that even after 5 years many of our BlackBooks are still a lot better than what someone can buy at an entry or mid-market point after 5 years. Our customers want better and faster, we can answer this call and ensure that their old BlackBook continues to serve someone else who has less stringent demands. Our customer surveys have told us this.

1.3.2 How is Venom able to do this?

Most carbon credit programs, trade in programs and other so called green programs are built around the idea that a computer is depreciated so that it no longer has a book value after a certain amount of time, but the physical asset, the computer in this case, still exits. Basically its financial value is zero after a certain amount of time, but it still continues to exist in the real world. In the accounting world, it’s no longer there but on planet earth, its right in front of you. The dilemma is from an accounting and tax purpose the asset/computer is no longer worth anything, but it physically functions and needs to be disposed of and replaced to continue to receive various financial benefits. Here is where we see working products, getting thrown out or recycled, simply because it is not worth holding onto anymore, rather than creating a credit to offset against a new purchase or by increasing the price of the new purchase to offset the old one, we at Venom believe the problem needs to be targeted much further along in the supply chain. Why not make them better to begin with so that you can repurpose and upcycle these computers after years of use? Now these worth notebook computers can be used again. Our surveys tell us that more than 95% of BlackBook users are still using their BlackBook even after 5 Years* it makes sense. We know they still work, and that the only thing better and faster than an old BlackBook, is a new one.

1.3.4 Hows does Venom know this?

Our core belief is that things should be better, deep down we all know that they can be. So, we just did it, we made them better and then you told us in our surveys, thousands upon thousands of customers 4,5,6 years after continuous use, simply said that after so many years of use, that you were still using your old BlackBook, and that you would love a new one for many different reasons but that your old one was still good. Hence the dilemma. There are many benefits to a new BlackBook and the increased productivity that comes with a new model is the most compelling reason that makes it well worth the exercise. We just needed to come up with a way, where our customers of today become our suppliers of tomorrow and that’s what makes the Venom Value Cycle complete. Plus it turns out really fast computers are still fast several years later. Your pre-loved BlackBook is going to someone somewhere else who is also going to love it.

1.3.5 How long do I have to trade in?

You mail in your trade in, after you have purchased from shopvenom.com. This gives you 30 days from when you receive your new Venom BlackBook to transfer all of your needed files across to your new BlackBook and ensure that everything is in good working order before handing your old machine in.

1.4 How long does the process take?

We give you 30 days to send your machine back, it may take 2-15 days’ time for us to receive it depending on where you are. 14 days from when we have received your trade in BlackBook, we will pay you in cash, into your nominated bank account or by Paypal.

1.5 Which BlackBooks can I trade in?

All of them, if it turns on and boots into windows and is less than 7 years old we can find a new home for it. Every BlackBook has value, don’t forget to send in your power adaptor with it. If you are trading in an i7 BlackBook you will need to purchase a new i7 BlackBook to be eligible for the trade in.

2 Cancelling
2.1 Can I cancel my trade in?

Yes, if after receiving your new BlackBook for whatever reason decide not to return your old BlackBook, you can cancel your trade in and just keep your BlackBooks. You do not need to let us know. If you do not send out your old BlackBook within 30 days of receiving you new BlackBook, your trade in will no longer be eligible, You can send your BlackBook out on the 30th day from when you received your new BlackBook and it can take 2-3 weeks for us to receive your notebook and the total process could take 2 months. You would still be eligible in this case and we will pay you in your nominated bank account, 14 days from when we received your trade in.

2.2 Do I need to return chargers and cables?

You should, you will always be paid more because they are worth something. Your trade in value could be significantly reduced if you don’t include your power cables, cables and chargers.

3 Do I need pre-approval or permission for a trade in?

You do not need an approval or confirmation from us. Simply order from shopvenom.com and within 30 days of receiving your new BlackBook, transfer your data across from your old BlackBook and send your old BlackBook back to us. We will delete the data on your old BlackBook.

4 Where do I send my trade in?

You will need to send it back to wherever your new BlackBook was shipped to you from. The address is on the box that you received your new BlackBook in.

5 Is my data safe?

It’s best for the value of your trade in if your BlackBook turns on and boots into windows. You should delete all of your personal data before returning your old BlackBook to us, we will do it again anyway when we receive your trade in, but if your parcel is lost or for that added extra piece of mind, we recommend you do so. You can learn how to reset windows or how to delete your data on your computer below.

6 Resetting data

Your Venom Recovery Drive that was supplied to you with the purchase of your original BlackBook will help you do this. It is easy, just run this drive and it will restore your BlackBook to factory settings, warning, you will lose all of your data.
